Jeffrey Man, counsellor and play therapist

It's okay if things feel hard right now,
for you or for your child.

Whether it's for yourself, your teenager, or your child, you don't need to have it all figured out before reaching out. I work with individuals and families across all ages,
in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.

Jeffrey Man, counsellor and play therapist

Hello, I'm Jeffrey Man.

Thank you for being here. Reaching out, even just reading this, often takes more than people realise.

I'm a counsellor and play therapist in Hong Kong, working with adults, teens, children, and parents through the harder, more tender stretches of life. On any given week, that might mean sitting on a playroom floor beside an anxious child, steadying a young refugee far from home, running a workshop for a roomful of parents, or holding space in a long personal-growth group for adults. You'll find me at the Hong Kong Professional Counselling & Consulting Association (HKPCCA), where I've supported people and families since 2023. I have also worked as a school counsellor at Harrow International School Hong Kong.

However we begin, my approach is gentle and unhurried. For a child, that often means meeting them in play; for a teenager or adult, a quiet space to think out loud. I follow your lead, trust that you know your own life best, and walk alongside you in whichever language feels most like home: English, Cantonese, or Mandarin.

In their own words

Some of the most meaningful feedback comes from the children themselves — little notes left behind after our sessions together.

Frequently asked questions

What happens in the first session?

The first session is simply a conversation. I'll ask a little about what's brought you here and what you're hoping for, but there's no pressure to share more than feels comfortable. We'll spend time getting to know each other, and together we can think about what ongoing sessions might look like.

Is everything I share confidential?

Yes. Everything discussed in our sessions is kept strictly confidential. There are a small number of legal exceptions, for example if there is a serious risk of harm, but wherever possible I will always speak with you before sharing anything with anyone else.

How much do sessions cost?

Counselling sessions are HK$1,600 (50 minutes), and child play therapy is HK$1,800 (45 minutes). If cost is a concern, please still get in touch and we can talk it through.

My child is 12 — play therapy or teenage counselling?

The age ranges are a guide, not a rule. Some younger teenagers connect more naturally through play, while some children are ready to talk. In the free consultation, and in our first session together, we'll decide which approach fits best — and the fee follows the service rather than the age: play therapy sessions are HK$1,800, and counselling sessions HK$1,600.
